On a kayak trip in Beaufort, I overheard someone talking about a bike’n’barge trip they did in Holland. Hmmmmmm. . . .sounds like a good adventure. Enter Bike and the Like with Roger and Suzie. We were fortunate to get 4 spots for us and friends Betty and Lee.
Packing for the extended trip was a challenge. . .bike stuff, touring stuff, school stuff. But we got it all together, and here are the four of us, ready to walk to the docks in Amsterdam.
Clackety clack over the cobblestones. . .headed toward the dock
And here’s the boat. . . Feniks
Our room was a nice surprise. . . Two beds on the same floor. . . That is, no bunk beds. But there is an extra bunk in our room. We joked that we could have brought Gemma!!
And a sweet little welcome on our bed. . .
Before long, we were getting fitted for our bikes, because we were scheduled to bike. . . Even today, our first day!
the date carved into the thatched roof. . .
Next on Suzie’s itinerary s an ancient castle. . .
Can you see don and lee atop the ramparts. . .
after a day of traveling, our first bike journey, and a night on the town inHaarlem, we were happy to sink into our beds. Tomorrow. . . More flowers, bulb fields, and the Keukenhof. . .
